First things first: I know the title is groan-worthy, but I love it nonetheless. With that out of the way, I’d like to fill you in on what is happening with Scratch Living!
So, for the longest time the most common question we would receive is “Have you ever thought about selling ‘X’?”
- If I make intricate cupcakes, we hear “Have you ever thought about selling those?”
- If Mrs. Scratch knits a sweater… “Ooh, ever thought about selling clothes?”
- When we got our chickens (more on that in another post), we heard “Are you going to sell eggs?”
So after much deliberation we decided that, since everyone presumed we were planning some sort of business out of our respective passions, we would do just that! So, this is an interesting post in the fact that it’s the last post for Scratch Living the rarely-updated hobby blog, and the first post for Scratch Living, the business/lifestyle site (that’s hopefully more regularly updated!)
So, without further adieu, let’s check out the first product that we are selling under the Scratch Living brand: Micro-roasted coffee!
‘Caffeine Nation’ Blend by Scratch Living
Mrs. Scratch and I have decided to start with something we know fairly well: Coffee. We are former coffee shop owners, and towards the end of that adventure we began custom roasting; this is something we continue to do for ourselves. Well, now we’re going to do it for you, too!
Choosing the right bean is integral to developing a successful roast; we are using a Colombia Huila for our house roast, affectionately known as our ‘Caffeine Nation’ blend. The roast is a true medium: Enough heat to get a true oil extraction, while still taking care to maintain the flavor notes of the bean.
The taste offers an initial hint of honey, and light berry notes follow. The taste is very clean, and lends itself well to a drip coffee.
1 lb. bags are available for $13.00 (plus shipping for our long-distance friends), with plans for more roasts in the future.
Note that we will happily discuss discounts for customers who choose to buy in bulk.
Please Stay Tuned for More
We have a number of projects in the pipeline, and we’re looking forward to sharing more news about these projects when the time is right. In the meantime, please read, comment, share and be part of our community! Your feedback and support are what encouraged us to take this step, and they are now what will determine whether we succeed or fail (No Pressure).
Thanks so much everyone!
year month week,
